The new AB5 law in California went into effect this year has affected most of the delivery company’s in their state including all those in the Gig Economy that employ Independent Contractors. This law has been supported by Joe Biden. If there is a change with our current administration, this new law Could be passed as the new Federal law which will enforce how Independent Contractors are classified using the ABC test. Most if not all messenger/couriers that employ IC will have a very hard time with this new law and will have to reclassify their work force and change their business model. What is the contingency plan (if Any) of FMA and other National Courier Messenger association throughout the country should the AB5 law spread?
